Congratulations
to the OSU Women's Force squad who traveled to
Kingston to participate in, a very reputable competitive
men's and women's soccer tournament and were able
to bring home the Women's Competitive tournament
championship!
Losing 2-1 in the
first game to the 3-time defending champion Kingston
Women's team based out of the Toronto based OWSL,
the squad put themselves together and never looked
back. The Force girls went on to defeat Pickering
West Shore FC 2-0 and then played the Ottawa Internationals
Women's Premier to a 1-1 draw seeding them 2nd
behind Kingston in their respective pool to advance
to Sunday's playoff.
With a second hot
and sunny day upon the tournament, the OSU Women's
Force went into Sunday's playoff with a reduced
13-player roster. The semi-final seeded OSU against
the previously undefeated FC Laurentides team
from Quebec. The result was a solid 3-0 semi-final
performance win. With Kingston winning the other
semi-final, this set up for a rematch of the tournaments
opening game. In a hard fought and balanced game,
the OSU Women's Force squad were able capitalize
midway through the first half and continued to
play hard to turn out a 1-0 victory final.
Congratulations
to Taylor, Elsa, Alyssa, Sam, Heather, Diane,
Morena, Alex, Erin, Jen, Melissa, Michelle....as
well as guest player Christina D. and OSU 93G
call-ups; Jessica, Steph and Amanda. Almost all
players are OSU youth graduates and are or will
be playing at the University level. They all currently
play with either the OSU U21G Force in the ERSL
Tier 1 or with our OSU Women's Force in the OCSL
top Premier division.
Congratulations
on a great weekend of soccer and a well-deserved
tournament championship!
